Composition

The chemical biosensor is normally composed by the transducer and the bioreceiver. The transducer is that part of the sensor that converts the chemical signal in an electrical signal that can be observed and measured. The biosensors produced by Topflight are composed as follows: plastic substrates, conductive inks, reagents. In order to reduce the production tolerances during printing and die-cut process, all the layers that compose the transducer start from roll-to-roll and continue their manufacturing in single sheets.

For the production of sensors, the use of materials suggested and produced by Topflight is preferred, because they are specific stabilized materials and already tested to be used in the biosensor field, in compliance with its own manufacturing process. The materials usually used are: polyester and polycarbonate. They are submitted to special treatments in order to make them suitable for the production of the biosensors. Anyway, if the customer requires, Topflight is open to use specific materials out of its range.

The conductive inks used in printing process are the following:

  • carbon paste
  • silver
  • UV cured dielectric
  • other specific materials

Topflight boasts of a special and exclusive reagent deposition system. The reagents can be developed by the customer, that, in this case, will supply all the storage and manufacturing specifications, or they can be realized in collaboration with Topflight. n fact, thanks to the close co-operation established with qualified Research Insitutes of Pavia and Florence Universities, Topflight can provide the greatest assistance and competence for the formulation, the developing and the setting-up of specific reagents.

Once the formulation has been identified, Topflight can manufacture the reagent directly in its own laboratories.
